About European Roulette
The European wheel has one zero alongside numbers 1-36. Zero is neither red nor black, so an even-money bet does not cover half of all wheel outcomes.

No. This is a single-zero table. American roulette uses a different layout with both 0 and 00.
What happens to a red or black bet when zero lands?
It loses on the standard European table. Zero has its own green pocket and does not count as either color.
Why is my European Roulette return smaller than my total bet?
You may have chips on several losing positions as well as a winning one. The return from that winning bet is not the same as the net result of the whole spin.
